Helping Others...Tell Your Friends About It!

Being homeless is absolutely tough. You have to worry day-in and day-out on how to get food, shelter, or simply to stay alive. With this in mind, I would make a fund for a homeless family in need of a better life, just like the family I saw yesterday in front of the Wal-Mart store, asking for spare change. There were two adults and two young kids. The parents looked tired, as if they had been outside asking for change for quite a while. The kids looked sad and depressed.

I do not know exactly what made this family homeless; maybe the parents lost their jobs, or the family house was burned down. They looked like good people in an unfortunate situation. They shouldn’t live this way; nobody should.

In order to help them, here is what I’d like to do for them: I would find ways to supply food, clothes, and toys to the family. Giving them food to last until they can stabilize will end the family’s hunger. Giving clothes will make it easier to get a job and start making money. Having toys for the kids would give them some joy and comfort, so they can feel some hope outside of a hard, desperate life. These could turn the family’s dramatic situation into a peaceful one.

To start off the plan, I would ask my teacher for five minutes of the class’s time. I would ask my classmates to donate a few dollars or unwanted items to the fund. Also, to spread the word to others, I would send home with my classmates a letter to their parents regarding the matter. In the letter I would ask the parents to spread the news to their friends and coworkers. The plan will spread all over the city and many people soon. In the meantime, I would make posters asking for donations, and I could place them around the city’s shopping centers. The donations would all lead to an auction at my house, selling donated items as well as my own unused items such as a computer that has been collecting dust, my old MP3 player, and anything else that hasn’t been used in quite a while. After getting a sufficient amount of money, my friends, family, and I would go to the grocery store and buy essential foods that won’t perish. Then, we’d find clothes for the family and toys for the kids, and deliver them to the family.

Once they are stabilized and independent, they will be able to help others in the same situation as they were in before. And at the end, everybody is happier and many people can live a better life.

If one good deed like this could change a family’s life at a time, a chain of good deeds and generosity can change the world and make it a better place. We, as kids, can do it!

What Animal Am I Most Like?

Hello this is Donald!

This is my essay describing what animal I would most represent.

On the KidFriendlyOnline.Net online zoo, I would most represent the tiger. I like to have fun, and I always like to run around. I love running and playing outdoors, especially camping. I am not the most athletic, though sports have always appealed to me. I like to care for others, and I always stick with my friends, just like how the tiger stays with their family. I love jokes and having fun is really important to me, though I try not to hurt anyone’s feelings by playing a joke at someone else’s expense. I am loyal to my country. I am a Cub Scout, and I am becoming a Boy Scout in spring. I have earned many badges, and was one of the few in my Cobra Patrol to earn the Webelos badge, meaning I’m ready to go to Boy Scouts. Now all I have to do is earn the Arrow of Light, the best thing you can get in the Cub Scouts. You have to complete just about everything.

My family and friends are important too. I like to spend time with my family, and I always try to pitch in whenever I can. I believe that everyone in my family is kind, hard working, and smart. I feel comfortable around them and can go to them when I’m feeling down or stressed. They can turn a bad day to one of the best days in my life. When I get really mad, my parents are always there to settle my temper. I play with my friends at the park, and they always cheer me up. I always love to play with friends on a cool spring day. I love water, and sometimes go swimming with them. I also ice skate with one of my friends, Bobby. He is a hockey player, and I am a figure skater. I also like to go to a park to play. Sometimes there’s nothing better than going to play with my friends. I love animals also, especially dogs.

Tigers are creative and good thinkers. I think of my answers as creative and thoughtful, and I excel in many things. I am really good in Math, mostly because I think Math is fun. I think if you like something, you’ll excel in it. I love science and social studies because I always find a fun side to everything. Music is also an enjoyment, and I have learned to play the flute. I also love puzzles and Logic games. I think challenges as fun, and it helps my brain develop. I love a good book, and I have stayed up overnight reading the last book of Harry Potter. I also like another series called Artemis Fowl, and I have read every book in the series. When I begin a novel, I always go to the library to borrow the rest. I am still waiting for a new one to come out. In Artemis Fowl, the 14 year old child, a genius, develops ways to cheat a magical group, called fairies, out of precious gold. In the second book, he tries to rescue his father from a gang in the Arctic, and becomes friends to the fairies. There are many other books in the series, and I recommend these books to anyone looking for a good story. I just like about every book. I like school most of the time, but some days, it is the last place I’d like to be.

I also love to eat. I love barbeque pizza, and it makes my tongue water thinking about it. I like to eat a lot, and I hate salad. I like to go out to eat. I love sushi, but I don’t get it a lot because I am not Japanese. I enjoy many luxurious foods like crab cake. I really like fast food also. In fact, I like just about everything.

All these reasons make me a tiger, personality wise. Definetly not looks.
