Changing My Community
If I was given a chance to help my community, I would do a snack drive. Many kids at our school cannot afford to bring a snacks everyday to school. I feel that bringing a snack everyday to school is very important. The food helps you wait until lunch. Some kids have to have a aching stomach from hunger pains until lunch. I think that is unfair to those kids.
Usually the teachers buy the extra snacks. Teachers choose to do this and I think they have already done enough to help the kids. Therefore, I that’s why I want to run a snack drive.
I would set up a table in our school lobby and collect donations like goldfish, crackers and other stuff like that for the snack drive for two weeks. Then when I was finished, I would split the snacks equally for each classroom. I think every child should have a snack. I think this will make a difference in my community and I encourage you to do this at your school too.
My School - Fred A. Olds Elementary
One way Fred A. Olds stands out from other schools is that our school is connected to N.C State University. That means we have special guests come to our school. Professors from State come to Olds to teach us about science and social studies.
We have special field trips to NC State University as well. One of them is a trip to the N.C Wildlife Center. We also take trip to NC State green house and an annual puppet show. In the 3rd grade a professor came and did some experiments with dry ice and carbon dioxide.
Every year have pep rallies and the cheerleaders from NCSU come to our school. We even get to see Mrs. Wolf on the last day of spirit week. These are of many things that cause Fred A. Olds to stand out from the other schools.
The Animal I am most like...
The animal I am most like is a monkey. Monkeys and I have lots of things in common. For instance, a monkey loves to climb and play all day. Monkeys like bananas and so do I. I’m also like a monkey because I’m wild and loud like a monkey. The monkey is like me, because some monkeys are smart and I’m sort of smart. Monkeys like to play with friends, so do I. I climb just about any where just like a monkey.
I’m also very, very, very, active like a monkey. The monkeys are like me, because they are acrobatic. I’m like a monkey, because monkeys are alert and so am I. The monkeys are like me, because older monkeys help mother monkeys with the babies. I help my family with the younger kids. I’m like a monkey, because I love to joke around with my friends and I have a whole lot of energy all day long. The monkey is like me, because I have a family and my family cares for me just like the monkey family does. That’s how I’m like a monkey.
