Changing the World

To change the world, I would start a team that would pick up trash, help the homeless, give help to people that need help. I would donate supplies to the school. We can even start a fund raiser. The fund raiser would give money to families.

I would start cleaning the streets, school, and parks. And I would replant flowers, grass, trees, and other plants for a beautiful city to live in.

I would go around places and ask people to donate money to the homeless. Homeless people need your help. Donating supplies is easy, but we can’t get the money very quick. We can start a fund raiser for kids. We can sell glow sticks, cakes, candies, pizza, jell-o, soda, cupcakes, egg rolls, French fries, paints, markers, and crayons. We can have a talent show and teachers can collect money from parents and students at the show. After all that we will see how much money we collected.

With the money we collect we will buy a big shelter for the homeless. And we will set up beds, blankets, pillows, and food. And those are the things I would do to make the world a better place to stay.

My School - Bella Vista Elementary

My school, Bella Vista, helps everyone with their work. Teachers help teachers, and students help students. We learn and share our education with others. We study hard and teachers study hard to teach us. Teachers help us study hard and help with our education. Parents help us by donating supplies, time and ideas to our school.

The history of our school is that our school was founded by Dr. Marcus A. Foster. He found our school in Sep. 1974. The other history in our school is that our play structure was burned one summer. Some neighborhood people were vandalizing our school for several months. What we did was protest. We walked around the neighborhood, with signs saying we love Bella Vista while singing solidarity songs. The point was to let the neighborhood know that we want the vandals to leave our school alone. At the same time, we had a fundraiser and received support from Trust to Public Land to fix the burnt play structure and to rebuild the old play ground.

Our afterschool program, EBAYC (East Bay Asian Youth Center) helps us with our education. The interns are high school and college students who teach and tutor us on reading and math. This program is fun because the interns make reading fun. On Wednesdays and Fridays we have fun activities like arts & crafts, dance and organized games.

What Animal am I Most Like?
My name is Kathy Xie. I am 10 years old. I am in the 5th grade. I pick the turtle because I want to shrink like a turtle does. I am shy and want to hide when I am scared.

I am scare when my brother surprises me in the dark. I don’t really like to talk to my mom’s friends who are strangers to me. I am shy to read aloud in class and in other places. I want to hide badly. I want to hide like a turtle does. I am embarrassed when people I do not know talk to me. I am embarrassed when people make fun of me. All I want to do is to hide somewhere.

I also take a lot of time to think, like a turtle take a long time to walk. I do not want to be embarrassed and so I try to think before I do the action. And I need more time to focus to get the answer or the action correct. A turtle can be slow but inside it can be fast and smart. To me that means I can be slow in the outside but inside I have knowledge.

It would be great to have the ability of a turtle. I feel my personality is like a turtle - shy, slow but confident.
