Changing the World

If I could change the world, everyone would be rich. People wouldn’t have to worry about not having enough money to pay the bills. And there wouldn’t be such a word as “homeless” because each person would have a place to live and call their own. People would always have food in their stomach, clothes on their backs and have a nice warm place to sleep. And with everyone having enough food in their stomach and clothes on their backs, people would be able to enjoy their lives; go to work, have fun and enjoy life with each other.

Let Me Introduce You to Huy T. Tran...

Hello, this is Mar’sharel again. I’ll be writing about a kid musician in my school. His name is Huy T. Tran; he plays the saxophone. I chose him because I think he is the best saxophone player in the whole school. The 4th and 5th graders at our school receive music instrumental lessons every Tuesdays and Thursdays. The students go to the music room at different time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The students learn to play violins, percussions, saxophones, and clarinets. I don’t play the saxophone. I play the drums.

When we have music class, Huy will be the first one to learn how to play the music for the saxophone. Huy and I were in the hallway one day, waiting for the previous music class to end. We had just received a new piece two days ago. Huy practiced quietly in the hallway and he got both of his solo pieces correct the first time. Huy seems to have a sense of music. Music is not easy to read and not easy play right away. It takes most of the students time to learn the notes and get used to rhythm so that it sounds like the actual song. When Huy practiced that day, it already sounded like the song. The other saxophone players had not learned the song yet. They were barely reading the notes. So, I think what Huy did is really good. I also think Huy has lots of talent to be able to play a new song correctly so fast. That is also the reason why I think he is the best saxophone player in the whole school. And if that is not good, I don’t know what good is.

Me? I don’t think I’m as talented as Huy. Playing the drum is not really that hard. It is keeping with the rhythm and beating the drums the right way so that it does not sound harsh and mean. Personally, I think I’m the best person in the drum class who plays the drums like it is music. But I am not like Huy. I could not play the drums right away to sound like it was part of the song, like Huy did with the saxophone. That is why the drums could be difficult. But Huy and I have fun learning to play the instrument.

Hi, my name is Mar'
sharel. You already know me from my last report. There are some interesting things about my school. Did you know my school used to be a hospital? It’s kind of fun and scary to be in a hospital every day. But most of all it’s not that scary, because if you ever seen a ghost it couldn’t hurt you in any way. Even though my friends and I have seen ghosts before, they didn’t hurt us; they just tried to talk to us, but we ran away. They just probably haven’t been put to rest yet, so that’s not really scary, is it?

And if there was someone famous who went to this school, I wouldn’t know. One of my teachers from the after school program said that he had a student named Jennifer Lopez in his fifth grade class, but the singer, Jennifer Lopez, never showed up. He also said that he lives in Michael Jackson’s old house and still gets his mail. He really does still get his mail, because he brings it in and shows it to us.

Another interesting thing about my school is that my school use to be a great big mall. I remember always going there with my mom and dad buying clothes, shoes, and food. Our school had flea markets during the spring, where old clothes and shoes were sold to raise money for our school’s field trips. That’s how I really remember my school. Because all my cousins, sisters, and brother came to this school before I did, I learned about the school before I even enrolled. Is that interesting?

The Animal I Am Most Like!

Hi, my name is Marsharel Rena Simon. I choose the lion to represent me because I am similar to the lion. Sometimes I can be really wild. For example my personality is sometimes wild, scary, and crazy. But most of all, I pick lion because that is my favorite animal. I love brown, and yellow.

Situations that make me wild are when people get into my business and talk to me when I am not talking to them. When I say ‘business’, I use it to mean that somebody is budding into my conversations when it is not necessary. I am scary because I can do something that other people can’t do. For example, people will not expect me to be mad, and then I will act with so much anger my friends say I am really scary. I am crazy when people put a lot of pressure on me. I get frustrated when there are too many things to do. I would roar out like a lion.

I like my personality because similar to a lion, I can get mad at little simple things. Lions can get mean and scary at times. And when the lion is not scary, it is nice and gentle. I am nice and gentle. The lion is mean when a people bother it. I am mean when people do stuff that get on my nerve. I believe a lion represents me.
